Belleview Biltmore Resort
The Belleview Biltmore Resort was built in 1897 by railroad tycoon Henry B. Plant as a destination resort to promote rail travel to Florida. The Pinellas Special Rail ran directly from NYC to a rail siding the Biltmore property. In its prime, the Biltmore, at 820,000 sq. ft., was considered the largest occupied wood structure at that time.
Built primarily out of Florida pine, the resort boasted Tiffany Glass, extensive handmade woodwork and a distinctive green roof. The resort closed in 2009 and was demolished in 2015 to make way for new condominiums.
During its luxurious life, it hosted dignitaries such as Barack Obama, George HW Bush, Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, Margaret Thatcher, Joe DiMaggio, Babe Ruth, Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. The list of entertainers is even longer.
Each pen includes a Certificate of Authenticity detailing the history of the wood. Gift boxes are available for an additional fee.
I have a limited supply of this wood.
The Wall Street version uses a Parker style refill, the Slim uses a standard Cross refill available below and at any office supply store.
